When an adrenaline junkie sets out to conquer a menacing river, she discovers that nature isn’t the only thing out for blood. A rock climbing couple, Sasha and Tommy, are undergoing a tandem climb to scale the Troll Wall. With Sasha unable to reach the summit, the couple decides to deploy a portaledge and continue the climb in the morning. A storm forces them to rapel back down, but an avalanche knocks Tommy off the wall. Unresponsive while still attached to Sasha, his body drops. Five months later, Sasha drives alone towards Wandarra National Park, Australia, holding Tommy’s lucky compass. A ranger warns her of a string of disappearances in that region. She stops by a gas station. While buying supplies and beef jerky, she gets harassed by two hunters. They leave after a stranger intervenes. Sasha asks the stranger, Ben, how to reach the Grand Isle Narrows. He gives her two options, an easy and a hard route. Sasha chooses the hard route which starts at Blackwater bay. She reaches the bay at night. The same hunters from before find her and approach once more.
